Independence Memorial Hall - Independence Memorial Hall (also Independence Commemoration Hall) is a national monument in Sri Lanka built for commemoration of the independence of Sri Lanka from the British rule with the establishment of Dominion of Ceylon on February 4, 1948. It also houses the Independence Memorial Museum. The Memorial Hall is based on the architecture of the Magul Maduwa or the Royal Celebration Hall located in Kandy. The column and pilers are decorated with traditional Sri Lankan designs and statues of lions are placed around the building. Statue of late Hon. D.S Senanayake, the first Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, is located in front of this monument. Currently Independence Memorial Hall is the venue for religious events and annual national day celebrations.

Colombo Fort and Pettah - Pettah is a neighborhood in Colombo, Sri Lanka located east of the City centre Fort. The Pettah neighborhood is famous for the Pettah Market, a series of open air bazaars and markets. It is Sri Lanka’s busiest commercial area, where most of the shops, textiles, buildings and many other business organizations are centered.

Colombo Harbour - Considered the largest and busiest port of Sri Lanka as well as in South Asia, the Colombo Harbor in Sri Lanka serves as an important terminal in Asia due to its strategic location in the Indian Ocean. With a capacity of over 4.1 Million TEUs and a dredged depth of 15m or 49 feet the Colombo Harbor is ranked in the top 35 ports in the world and also one of the world’s busiest. The port also serves as a naval base for the Sri Lanka Naval Fleet.

Galle Face Green - Galle Face Green is the most popular beach front park in the Colombo city, to have a relaxing evening and see the sunset. Currently Galle face green is restricted to five hectares of beach front strip, originally it extended to larger area bounding up to Beire Lake and Colombo Fort walls. Few centuries ago, Dutch used this area as a point to setup their cannons. The area was initially put to plan and laid out in 1859 by Governor Sir Henry George Ward. The park is most popular among locals and tourists. It is a magnificent place to witness a marvelous sun set over western coast of Sri Lanka.

Gangaramaya Temple - The temple’s architecture demonstrates an eclectic mix of Sri Lankan, Thai, Indian, and Chinese architecture. This Buddhist temple includes several imposing buildings and is situated not far from the placid waters of Beira Lake on a plot of land that was originally a small hermitage on a piece of marshy land. It has the main features of a Vihara (temple), the Cetiya (Pagoda) the Bodhitree, the Vihara Mandiraya, the Seema malaka (assembly hall for monks) and the Relic Chamber. In addition, a museum, a library, a residential hall, a three storeyed Pirivena, educational halls and an alms hall are also on the premises. Most notable for tourists is the architecture of the Simamalaka Shrine, which was built with donations from a Muslim sponsor to the design of Geoffrey Bawa.

Hindu Temple - The temple of Sri Kailawasanathan Swami Devasthanam Kovil is one of the most beautiful Hindu Temples in Colombo. It is also called by its devotees, is the oldest Hindu Kovil in Colombo. The temple has been created by skilled temple architects and sculptors straight from India; and maintains the classic Hindu temple look that is rarely seen on Sri Lanka. There are many beautiful and elegant paintings of God and Goddesses. Also there are a beautiful carvings of an astrology chart. The inner roof of this temple is decorated with magnificent paintings. The temple is dedicated to the lord Ganesha and loard Shiva. This place is one of the most famous and well recognized matrimonial venues.
