Galle, the capital of the southern province and a popular tourist destination in Sri Lanka. The highlight of the town is the ancient Fort, which was completed by the Dutch in 1663. In 1988, the Fort was included in world heritage list of UNESCO and is now one of six historic sites UNESCO in Sri Lanka. Inside the Fort are architectural landmarks, museums, lighthouse and much more. But the city is not limited only to the Fort: there are several churches, the Catholic Church, and a lot of ancient architecture in the form of buildings in the European style.
